Henry Schreiber is a physical chemist with research interests in glass chemistry, redox reactions in high-temperature liquids, and nuclear waste immobilization. Prior to coming to VMI, he worked at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Schreiber is our most prolific researcher, having been awarded nearly $1,000,000 in research grants, and having more than 100 publications (most of which were with student co-authors). He is currently developing a cross-curriculum general chemistry course which is geared to engineering majors. His awards are numerous, including one of Virginia’s Outstanding Faculty Awards in 2002, the Distinguished Teaching Award (1994), and three Maury Research Awards (1979, 1985, and 1992). When Dr. Schreiber is not in the classroom or laboratory, he enjoys horseback riding and gardening. He and his wife, Charlotte, will take on any challengers at the departmental ping-pong table.
