Courses: Dr. Andreeva teaches a freshman course on World History and a survey of the history of the Middle East, as well as more advanced courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict, Islam and the West, Islam in the United States and Europe and Iran: Past and Present.
Dr. Andreeva research focuses on the interaction between East and West, Iranian history and culture in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and aspects of colonialism and imperialism in the Middle East. She has published articles on Persian and Dari literature, on Russian Orientalism, and on Russian travelers to Iran. Her manuscript entitled Russia and Iran in the Great Game: Travelogues and Orientalism has been published by Routledge in 2007. It is the first book to introduce and examine the approximately 200 travelogues about Iran published in Russian. Her current project examines “Orient” in Russian arts, including music, paintings and literature.
