General
My dispatch to Genl. Johnston of yesterday as well as today was important. Please let me now at once whether either of them was captured. I think that we had better send nothing more for the present via Snicker's Gap, but everything via Ashby's. I will keep a lookout for [Miss] Osborn. I will understand the [ ]1. The Yankees are in Smithfield which is about 6 miles west of Charles Town.
Respectfully your Obdt. Servt.
T. J. Jackson
Maj. Genl.
