Joint ROTC Commissioning

Cadets entering the active or reserve components of the Armed Forces are commissioned as Officers. This ceremony, in which the new Officers take their commissioning oaths, marks the end of a four-year journey of education, training, and self-discovery. 

It also marks the beginning of a journey of service. Following the formal oath ceremony, each ROTC component will conduct individual "pin on" ceremonies in designated areas on VMI Post in accordance with their service traditions.

Pinning Ceremonies will be held in the following locations:

  Army ROTC – Marshall Hall (Center for Leadership & Ethics)

  Naval ROTC – Parade Ground/Front of Third Barracks

  Air Force ROTC – Memorial Gardens (Located in front of Cocke Hall)

  Cameron Hall will be the location for inclement weather.
