Core Curriculum Assessment

VMI’s new Core Curriculum, The Nucleus of Citizenship and Leadership, is the academic cornerstone of Vision 2039, the Superintendent’s comprehensive plan for improving VMI’s time-tested, hands-on environment for developing leaders.

After the new core was approved by the Academic Board and Superintendent in Spring 2007, its implementation was adopted as VMI’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) for reaccreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Since the purpose of the QEP is “to enhance student learning,” assessments of learning outcomes developed by the core and evaluations of the core’s contributions to Vision 2039 provide essential information for institutional effectiveness planning.
