Services

Crisis Intervention

Crisis intervention services prevent, resolve, and/or minimize the effects of crises on cadets and the Institute community. For crisis assistance, cadets should come directly to Cadet Counseling during business hours. We are located in the VMI Infirmary behind Crozet Hall. Learn More

Self-Assessment

Cadet Counseling offers a free online screening tool for eating disorders, alcohol issues, anxiety disorders, and depression. The free screening is made available to all VMI cadets and is taken anonymously. The screening is provided so that you may find out, in just a few minutes, whether or not professional consultation would be helpful to you. Learn More

Wellness Resources

We offer a wide range of wellness resources. Learn More

Counseling

The CCC provides short-term, confidential counseling that helps cadets address personal concerns or stressors in their lives. The approach that we take is collaborative and strengths-based. Counselors understand that cadets possess a variety of strengths, resources, and abilities before they even walk through the door. Our goal is to help you capitalize on these strengths, as well as develop new skills and insight, to help you better navigate and cope with your concerns. Often times, cadets find that the skills and knowledge they gain in counseling translate into other avenues of their lives, helping to make them stronger, healthier cadets and citizens. At the CCC, we work with you to establish goals and identify directions for future growth.

Try One Counseling Session:

Sometimes cadets aren’t sure if talking with a counselor is right for them. You are welcome to set up one appointment to meet a counselor, learn more about what counseling may have to offer you, and what professional counseling is all about. You can talk about your personal issues, or not, and get to know more about the counselor you meet. We look forward to meeting you.
