Sergeant First Class Christopher Bean
SFC Bean joined the United States Army Reserve in January 1992 and graduated from One Station Unit Training at Ft. Sill, OK in June 1992 as a Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember. His first assignment was as a Cannon Crewmember with A Battery, 4th Battalion 92nd Field Artillery Regiment. He also served as a Gunner and Assistant Gunner while assigned to A Battery. In 1999, he was assigned to the 1185th Transportation Terminal Brigade as a Military Traffic Management Coordinator. In 2001 he reported to the 1st Battalion 417th Infantry Regiment for reclassification and assignment as a Drill Sergeant. He was deployed to Iraq from March 2004 to March 2005 where he served as NCOIC of a convoy security team. In 2008, SFC Bean served as a Senior Drill Sergeant for G Company 1st Battalion 46th Infantry Regiment at Ft. Knox, KY. In 2009, he served as a Senior Drill Sergeant for E Company, 3rd Battalion 60th Infantry Regiment at Ft. Jackson, SC. He continued to serve as a Senior Drill Sergeant at 1st Battalion 417th Infantry Regiment until his retirement in January 2012.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Non Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Drill Sergeant Badge, Parachutist Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge and Combat Action Badge.
While assigned to the 1185th TTB, he was selected as Brigade NCO of the Year. While assigned to the 1st Battalion 417th Infantry Regiment, he was selected as 98th Division NCO of the Year and Graduated Drill Sergeant School as the Distinguished Honor Graduate.
SFC Bean earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography from the Pennsylvania State University in 1996. He is married and has two children.
