Lt. Col. Kate Crossman - Web Communications Designer

Kate CrossmanLt. Col. Kathryn (Kate) Crossman is Web Communications Designer-Editor for all Communication and Marketing at VMI. She edits, designs, develops and maintains the Institute’s official internet presence. Lt. Col. Crossman supports all VMI offices, and related organizations, as well as the VMI Foundation and Keydet Club. Crossman's role requires an understanding of various mass communication media, including web authoring, marketing, graphic design, information technologies, journalism, user experience, video, photography, and social media.

Prior to her appointment at VMI, Crossman held a teaching assistant position for Media Foundations at New School University, NY. As the Assistant to the CFO at the Corcoran Gallery of Art,  Crossman managed the office, worked with independent vendors and produced various print materials. At the Smithsonian Institution Archives, she coordinated the production of marketing materials, the SIA Annual Report, wrote and edited histories for the Guide to the Smithsonian Archives, supervised the Archives library as well as accessioned and managed official records for offices of General Council, Public Affairs, National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Science Information Exchange and Smithsonian Research Foundation. In addition, she was part of the team to create significant public exhibits at the Smithsonian Institute Archives, James Monroe Museum and Mary Washington College.
