LEXINGTON, Va., Oct. 12, 2011 – Parents and fans arriving early for Parents Weekend and the football game against Charleston Southern University this Saturday will have a new route to post.
For the Parents Weekend game only, parking on the Parade Ground will open at 7 a.m. See the Game Day website for detailed information on parking and tailgating.
Those waiting for the 7 a.m. opening must enter post from JORDAN’S POINT. Signs will direct early arrivers to that entrance. Vehicles will line up along the newly paved road through the North Post area until allowed to proceed to the Parade Ground at 7 a.m.
Those arriving after 8 a.m. will have the option to enter through either Jordan’s Point or by way of Letcher Avenue from downtown Lexington.
KEYDET CLUB, INSTITUTE SOCIETY, AND VMI EMPLOYEES
Members of the Keydet Club and the Institute Society and VMI employees will be allowed to enter post by way of Letcher Avenue starting at 7 a.m. Only vehicles with appropriate parking passes or VMI employee stickers will be allowed in the Letcher Avenue entrance before 8 a.m.
Vehicles without the appropriate parking credentials arriving at the Letcher Avenue entrance before 8 a.m. will be directed to Jordan’s Point.
A full weekend of events is scheduled beginning Friday night, including parades at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and performances by the VMI Theatre on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A VMI Jazz Ensemble and Glee Club Concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, a change from the time indicated in Parents Weekend brochure published earlier.
